Treatments — Skin
Genuine Dermaroller therapy is the most advanced and refined medical skin-needling (collagen induction therapy) procedure on the market today.
Dermaroller is a procedure that stimulates the skin to repair and regenerate itself naturally, creating smoother, brighter, younger looking skin than before. Genuine Dermaroller is one of the latest treatments in aesthetic medicine and has largely replaced laser therapy for skin rejuvenation. It is a natural skin regeneration and scar repair therapy. This latest anti-ageing treatment can often significantly improve the appearance of acne scars, aged and sun damaged skin, wrinkles, facial and décolleté lines and stretch marks.

The decision for cosmetic surgery should not be taken lightly. This is why Mr Banwell believes that the consultation process with him and our Concierge is so important. Regardless we are here to hold your hand throughout your journey and answer any questions you may have. That leap of faith may be anxiety-provoking but please know that we will always be here to catch you!
A Genuine Dermaroller medical device is used to produce thousands of micro-medical needle -columns in the skin. Each column will penetrate into the dermis of the skin and will rapidly close enabling the skin to recover within a day or two. After treatment your body will start to naturally regenerate and repair the skin, working below the surface in the dermis. This happens over time as new collagen is formed, new skin cells are generated and blood supply is enhanced. Visible signs may take up to 6 weeks to be seen and the process will continue over the following months providing you with a natural and long lasting enhancement. Mr Banwell or his nurses will advise but normally 3 treatments will be recommended at 6 weekly intervals.
A topical anaesthetic will be applied to numb the skin for 30 minutes prior to treatment. The Dermaroller procedure will take approximately 20- 30 minutes depending on the area to be treated but please allow one hour for your appointment as a full history, consent and photographs will be taken. Mr Banwell or his nurses will review the photos and history before treatment. The Dermaroller is rolled in several different directions and immediately after your procedure it will look as though you have sunburn and your skin may feel warm and tight. You may also have some ‘roller’ marks. This will start to subside after a few hours with some residual redness for 2-4 days.
Tepid water should be used to cleanse the skin for the following 48 hours aftercare and Chiroxy cream applied for optimum results (this will be given to you by Mr Banwell’s nurse). Always make sure your hands are clean when touching the treated area and it is recommended that make up is not applied for 12 hours following the procedure. High protection sun protection factor (SPF) should be applied on a daily basis. As your skin starts to regenerate it may feel drier than usual and you are advised to moisturise too. Once the redness has subsided it is important to care for your skin on a daily basis. Mr Banwell’s nurse will be able to offer you a complimentary skin consultation and an anti-ageing skin care regime can be discussed.
It is normal to experience some redness for the first couple of days, rarely, swelling and bruising could occur. It is recommended that Aspirin or Ibuprofen are not taken prior to treatment to minimise the risk of bruising. There is a very small risk of infection and hyper-pigmentation and hypo-pigmentation following treatment. Failure to use sunscreen may increase the risk of hyper-pigmentation.
Mr Banwell and his clinical team of aesthetic nurses, who have all been trained with the Genuine Dermaroller, will perform these treatments. In Mr Banwell’s practice, dermaroller treatments are available across Sussex and Kent including East Grinstead, Brighton, Tunbridge Wells, Haywards Heath and Worthing.
To maintain the benefits of your treatment, it is recommended that you have a further treatment on an annual basis.
