Nipples come in all shapes and sizes as part of normal anatomical variation. They may be asymmetric (different each size) and sometimes even bifid (split nipple in two parts).
Sometimes ladies with very large projected nipples may wish for them to be reduced in size as they can sometimes cause embarrassment or problems leading to being self-conscious, especially in intimate situations.
Whilst Mr Banwell will reassure you that your nipples are just a variation of normal, an operation does exist to help reduce projection and lead to them being less obvious in clothes, swimwear and underwear. However, careful consideration needs to be made regarding nipple reduction.
The procedure itself is a relatively simple one performed under a local anaesthetic with few complications (scarring, adverse scarring, asymmetry, varying projection, numbness and potential issues with breast feeding. Results are generally excellent in the long term and recovery is rapid. Sutures are usually removed after 2 weeks and activities of daily living can recommence around this time.
Mr Banwell and his team will be happy to explain further about prices and available operating dates for nipple reduction in Sussex, Kent and London including the following locations: East Grinstead, Haywards Heath, Eastbourne, Bexhill, Hastings, Brighton, Worthing, Chichester, Oxted, Westerham, Sevenoaks, Guildford, Caterham, Maidstone, Chatham, Ashford, Woldingham, Croydon, Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge and Bromley.

Mr Banwell recommends the surgery be performed under local anaesthesia although some patient elect to have this performed under general anaesthesia undertaken by a specialist anaesthetist.
The procedure is relatively minor in terms of recovery and most women are able to return to the activities of daily living immediately. The sutures used need to be removed at 2 weeks. A small dressing is applied and this will be removed at one week at the first postoperative visit.
Bleeding, infection, nipple necrosis and inability to breast feed should be noted.
